I guess more and more people study their religions and find that what the traditional church teaches is not what they firmly believe in. I have a daughter and she is my Life, but I also know exactly what you mean about valuing your sense of freedom. After 8 years of being a mom, I still carve out "me" time. Like you, I believe in a God that is everywhere and to who I can talk whenever I feel like it. I also think that the clergy is manipulating scripture to enslave the poor and uneducated.
